Shot some pics for Salomon on Tuesday at Snowbasin for the launch of 30resorts30days.com which will follow Seth Warner and his teardrop trailer on a whirlwind tour of Utah and Colorado as he spreads the stoke and gives you a chance to ride Solly’s new prototype stix.  I only had a few hours with Seth but from what I saw it looked like a really fun ride and I was bummed I didn’t get a chance to click in and spin a few laps for myself.  Hopefully I’ll catch him on his return leg and get a crack at them.

Mad respect to the guys that shoot Superpipe contests and shoot them well.  This was my first time seeing much less shooting this event and man it’s a struggle.  From the super tight confines of the media pens to the rock hard ice of the pipe deck it’s a battle.  Add in the random nature of where the riders exit the pipe,  shooting after dark and a crowd of 14,000 plus pushing and shoving to get closer to the fence and it’s a knock down drag out fight of an affair.  Nevertheless the show these athletes put on is truly spectacular.

Special thanks to Shaun Raskin and Ned Lindner as well as Julian Carr at Discrete Headwear for scrambling to make a very last minute and rather desperate lifestyle shoot happen.  Shaun and Ned walk like nobody’s business.  True pro’s.  Creating winter in September is not the greatest scenario but we got the job done and I appreciate the effort.  Super stoked that this pow slaying photo finally found a proper home at MS + L as it was one of my fav’s from last season.

I’m kicking myself for sleeping through my alarm today and missing what had to have been a most epic sunrise.  With the fall colors still exploding, a fresh coat of snow and wispy clouds dancing on a deep blue sky I really blew it.  That said, it was so pretty I went up to Snowbasin anyway with the dog to take it all in.  If I’d have shot these 4 hours earlier they might have been pretty special.  Hopefully I get another crack at it here soon.  The forecast is promising.

This is another effort at shooting action self-portraits.  A real monsoon flow doused us with over an inch of rain last night creating the ever so rare puddles to play in.   I’m pretty sure Pocket Wizards were not intended to be coated in mud for hours on end.  They really need to make an “L” version of them with weather sealing.
